Michael Freeman Strong

Michael Freeman Strong, 73 years old, of Waldorf, Maryland passed away at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital on September 14, 2022. He was a long-time resident of Waldorf, Maryland for over 30 years. Born March 30, 1949 in Savannah, Georgia. He was the son of Helen and John Strong of McLean, VA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Scott) Strong, father, John Strong, sister Sherrill Strong, and father-in-law Francis Herbert. He is survived by his wife, Faith Strong of Waldorf, MD; a daughter, Christina Buglisi of Port Tobacco, MD, and two grandchildren Milania and Anthony Buglisi; mother-in-law Anne Herbert of Fort Washington, MD, five brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law, Anthony Herbert, Sr. & wife Sheila of Hughesville, MD, Mark Herbert & wife Terri of Port Tobacco, MD, David Herbert & wife Debbie of LaPlata, MD, James Herbert & wife Susie of Owings, MD, and Francis Herbert & wife Lynn of Thurmont, MD; including several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law Tom Evans and nephew Daniel Evans of Englewood, CO. Michael was married to Faith “Faye” Strong on December 6, 2006. He enjoyed many favorite past times of riding his Honda motorcycle, enjoying time with friends, traveling, watching the Washington Redskins (now the Washington Commanders) football team, listening to music, and spending time with his wife and family. He was a member of a twelve-step fellowship program which he participated in frequently throughout his 38 years of sobriety. After high school, he took up trades in the dry wall construction business, as well as turned an interest of the addictions counseling field into a career by working with Changing Point in Charles County, MD, and later, received a position as an addiction counselor with Sunrise, a youth recovery treatment facility with Fairfax County government in Herndon, VA. After years with Sunrise, he made a lateral move to another facility at Crossroads in Alexandria, VA before he retired. Michael held several certifications in counseling and was very knowledgeable in his career field. He retired from Fairfax County government in 2013. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Bryantown, 13715 Notre Dame Pl., Bryantown, MD. 20617 In lieu of flowers to the church, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
