William Lacey

William Paul “Bill” Lacey, 79, of Waldorf, MD, died December 7, 2010, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, MD. Mr. Lacey was an outstanding salesman for 35 years with Ken Dixon Automotive. He worked as a parts manager for part of that time. His customer base was huge and many of his customers would return not only for car purchases, but to visit with him in the showroom and talk about anything from the weather to sports. Bill was a loyal, faithful Redskins fan forever through good seasons and bad. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in White Plains, Maryland, a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Waldorf, Maryland, and a member of the American Legion in Avenue, Maryland. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, eating his favorite classic southern Maryland foods: stuffed ham, hard crabs, and oysters. His heart was bigger than his chest could hold. He treasured spending time with his brothers and other family members. He also adored his dog, Tinkerbell. Bill loved all people and could talk to anyone. Son of the late Thomas McGuire Lacey, Sr. and the late Margaret Mary Brown Lacey Predeceased by his parents; sisters, Ann Abell, Rita Wathen, Mary Lou Smith; infant daughter, Kathleen Irene Lacey; sister-in-law, Judy Lacey. Mr. Lacey is survived by his companion of 24 years, Alice Newcomb; daughters, Samantha Shelton, Suzanne Fields, Stephanie Holder, Debbie Lacey; brothers, Thomas "Tucker" M. Lacey, Jr. and his wife Joan of Bushwood, MD; Richard "Pork Chops" Lacey of Charlotte Hall, MD; sisters, Alice Marie Mirth and her husband, Don of Melbourne, FL; Catherine Smith Bassford of Mechanicsville, MD; brothers-in-law, Kennedy Abel, Kenney Wathen, Clinton W. Smith; and numerous relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Friday, December 17, 2010, from 11AM to 12Noon at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Funeral Service will be on Friday, December 17, 2010, beginning at 12Noon at Raymond Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at 2PM at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Fellowship to follow at the Waldorf Elks Lodge from 3PM to 5PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Waldorf Volunteer Rescue Squad, 3245 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20602.
