Walter Anthony Brown Jr.

With great sadness we share the passing of Walter Brown Jr. of Waldorf, MD, who departed on July 1, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on July 26, 1969, Walter was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Walter Brown Sr. He is survived by his children Brittnee Brown, Rhiannon Brown, Walter Brown III, Austin Brown, and his granddaughter Naomi Vaught. He leaves behind sisters Kim Purdy (John) and Wendy Bland (Jack), and nieces Amber Nelson (Chris), Shelbie Russell (Daniel), Jenna Purdy, and nephew John Purdy Jr. (Abigail). Walter is dearly missed by his faithful friend and constant companion, Nova. Walter grew up in La Plata, MD. He attended McDonough High School, participating in the construction vocational technology program. Walter dedicated most of his life to the construction industry, working alongside his father at KWW Brown Corp. Walter built custom homes including his own home and his sisters’ homes. He shared his industry knowledge with his children, frequently bringing them along on-site visits. His passions included cars, football, fishing, and playing cards. He delighted in surprising his family with treasures from his collections, yard sales, or farmers' markets. The unexpected gifts would often be discovered on their porches. Known for his great sense of humor, Walter was able to relate to an array of people. He regularly regaled friends and family with amusing tales. Walter assumed the role of protector, always ready to lend a helping hand to his sisters, nieces, nephew, and extended family. He cared for those who could not care for themselves, including stray dogs and animals, never leaving one unattended. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603 in honor of the wonderful care Walter received. Friends and Family will be received at Raymond’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9th from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM to celebrate Walter's life. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories of Walter. Rest in Peace, Walter. You will be forever remembered in our hearts.
