Richard Allen Bussey Sr.

Richard Allen Bussey Sr. of Silver Spring, Maryland, formerly of Waldorf, MD, died on October 12, 2013 at the Riderwood Village in Silver Spring. He was 75 years old. Born on March 1, 1938 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Evelyn Robey and the late James Edward Bussey Sr. Mr. Bussey, who was affectionately known as“Dick” was a sheet metal foreman with Stromberg Metal Works, Inc. He was a long-time member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 100 for over 56 years and retired in 1996. As a talented woodcarver, Mr. Bussey enjoyed carving and belonged to the Southern Maryland Wood Carvers Club. He was also a member of the Triangle Hunting Club. and the Southern Maryland Wood Carvers. His loves included Mr. Bussey loved the outdoors, gardening and especially bird watching; listening to , he loved country and blue grass music, and spending time with family. doing woodcarving. Along with his wife Jane, Mr. Bussey served as an emergency care foster parent for the Charles County Department of Social Services. Mr. Bussey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great friend. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bussey was preceded in death by his brother, the late James E. Bussey Jr. He is survived by his wife Jane D. Bussey; his children Karen D. Diaz and her husband John M. Diaz, Terrie L. Ney, Richard A. Bussey Jr. and his wife Melissa F. Bussey; his grandchildren Jason Diaz, Jeremy Diaz, Joshua Diaz, Roy Ney, Richard Bussey III, Zachary Bussey, Katharina Bussey; his great grandchildren Tori Diaz, Jeremy Diaz, Nathaniel Diaz, Hunter Diaz. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. Visitation on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue La Plata, MD 20646 where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 beginning at 11AM with Pastor Steve Merki officiating. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers are his grandsons Jason Diaz, Jeremy Diaz, Joshua Diaz, Roy Ney, Richard Bussey III and Zachary Bussey.
