Ramona Ferrall Dobry

Ramona Ferrall Dobry, 100, of La Plata, MD passed away on December 6, 2024 at Green Acres Nursing and Rehab Center, La Plata, MD. Ramona was born on February 1, 1924 in Leonardtown, MD to Maude E. (Abell) and Thomas N. Ferrall, Sr. Ramona grew up in St. Mary’s County, MD on her family’s farm in Red Gate. During World War II she worked at Patuxent River Naval Air Station as a Supply Clerk with the USO. Ramona met and married John B. Dobry. John worked with the Navy Department of Defense. Ramona and John moved to Guantanamo Bay Cuba in 1947 for his job, where they lived and raised a family until 1959. Upon their return to the States in 1959, Ramona and John moved to La Plata, MD where they would remain for the remainder of their lives. Ramona worked as an Assessment Clerk with the State of Maryland Assessment Office. She was a member of the NSDAR Port Tobacco Chapter, the St. Mary’s County Historical Society, NARFE Chapter 1972, Friends of the Library, and AARP. She was an avid reader and enjoyed genealogy research. She loved cats. She was a resident volunteer at the Charles County Nursing Center. She was a devout Catholic, and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, Sodality, and St. Catherine’s, McConchie. She was a loving mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Ramona is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Dobry; grandson, Joseph B. Copsey; brothers; William Ferrall, Thomas Ferrall, Jr., and Ishmael Ferrall; and sister, Alexine Cameron. Ramona is survived by her children; Michael A. Dobry, Robert G. Dobry, Sr and his wife Margaret, and Linda S. Copsey and her husband Joseph L. Copsey; grandchildren; Christopher Dobry, Jonathan Dobry, and Robert Dobry, Jr.; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, and from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine’s of Alexandria, McConchie, 7865 Port Tobacco Road, Port Tobacco, MD 20677. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ramona’s name are asked to; Charles County Rescue Squad, P.O.
