Janet Marie Short

Janet Marie Short, 83, of LaPlata, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Bridgepoint Hospital, National Harbor in Washington, D.C. Born on March 26, 1939 in Princeton, West Virginia, she was the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Vera Reed. She is survived by her husband Bernhard R. Short, daughters Nanette Harn and her husband Brett, Rayann McGlamary and her husband Michael; grandchildren, Mickey Turpie, his fiancé Molly Nicholson, John Ross, his wife Sierra and their daughter Charlotte, Cole Turpie, his partner Teresa Stewart, Cameron McGlamary and Hayden McGlamary; sisters Juanita Coleman and her husband Dennis, Jean Robertson and her husband Bill The Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Gospel Church, 11150 Berry Road in Waldorf, Maryland 20603 on Monday, April 17, 2023 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Internment will take place at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623 The family has requested that donations be made in honor of Janet Short to Calvary Gospel Church (Calvarygospel.org) A Personal Tribute from Ray Short: Janet was the light of my life. She left this evil and at times, stunning world for that wonderful place she now calls home, Heaven. Our daughters and I lost a wife and mother who loved us deeply and completely every day of our lives. Janet loved both of her sisters dearly and missed them very much. Though separated by distance they spoke often. As our family grew and we became grandparents and great grandparents, the visits from our family gave Janet so much happiness and joy. God has blessed us with a beautiful and talented family. When Janet and I thought of Calvary Gospel Church it wasn’t the building, it was all of the special people who loved and put up with us. You gave us opportunities to work, have fun, develop skills, worship with each other in music, ministry and prayer, and yes have our little spats that always gave way to forgiveness and an even closer fellowship. Janet loved all of you so much. Thank you for your friendships, your support, prayers, love and warm hugs you so freely gave to my precious wife. I know for a fact that Janet would say to you all “it was a wonderful life, see you up there”. I loved Janet so much. I cannot wait to see those big beautiful blue eyes and her smile. The site of which always left me speechless. I love you honey, you big beautiful doll!
