Janet Davison

Janet M. Davison, 66, of Waldorf, MD, a cancer survivor of 2 years, died peacefully on Friday morning at Georgetown University Hospital surrounded by her family. Born April 22, 1945, in La Plata, MD, she was the middle child of three by the late Ralph W. Cross and the living Mary A. Cross of Waldorf, MD. As a young woman she attended Oxon Hill High School and graduated with the Class of 1963. After high school she studied at Corcoran College of Art and Design to obtain her degree in Graphic Design. In 1963, she met her husband, the late Gordon C. Davison, at a local gas station where he worked. In 1965 they married and a few years later they started a family in Fort Washington, MD where they were members of Providence Methodist Church. Janet worked at the Federal Reserve as a designer in Washington, DC. Throughout the years she worked at multiple graphic designer firms in the DC area. In 1987, she and her husband built a home for their family in Waldorf. In 1990, they started their own business, Magdalene Design & Printing. For many years, the company serviced local businesses in the Southern Maryland region. Most recently she worked at Wyndham Worldwide in Alexandria, Virginia. Janet was a member and former president of the Zonta Club of Charles County. Her passions included painting, drawing, gardening, and creating flower arrangements. Janet adored her late husband of 44 years, her mother, children, grandchildren, siblings and her friends. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and wife. She was the guiding force in her sons' lives. She was a very giving, loving, nurturing, devoted woman who enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Preceded in death by her father and husband. Survived by her sons, Damien A. and Gordon T. Davison; sister, Marlene and Randy Roe; brother, Kenneth W. and Anita Cross. Also survived by grandchildren Kara, Kirsten, Devin, and Tyler Davison; step-grandchildren, Dymond Mulloy and Jessy Hoover. A gathering will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011, from 5PM until 7:30PM with a memorial service beginning at 7:30PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Georgetown University Hospital Foundation at Office of Philanthropy, Georgetown University Hospital, Hospital Administration, 3800 Reservoir Rd, Washington, DC 20007. Please indicate the "Lombardi Cancer Center" in the memo line.
