Janet Marie Almond

Janet Almond, age 50, passed away peacefully at her residence in Waldorf, Maryland, while under Hospice care. Born in La Plata, Maryland, Janet was a lifelong resident of Charles County. She was a valued member of the Spring Dell Center family for many years and brought a ray of sunshine wherever she went. Janet formed strong friendships and never hesitated to show how much she cared for others. Feisty, spunky, and full of spirit, she left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Throughout her time with Spring Dell, Janet volunteered at Hooks n Hangers and participated in various work contracts, always contributing with enthusiasm, determination, and a positive attitude. She had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went and touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness. Over the last several years, Janet faced numerous health challenges. Through it all, she fought like a champion, demonstrating strength, courage, and resilience that inspired those around her. Her spirit was truly one of a kind. For more than twelve years, Janet shared a home with her dear friends and housemates, Shawn and Pam. She enjoyed having her hair and nails done, making crafts, and listening to music. She especially loved The Beatles and The Eagles and was a devoted fan of local radio personalities T-Bone and Heather. Her favorite place to be was in the amazing "She Shed" on the deck at her home. Janet loved the calm of being outside, relaxing and listening to her favorite music. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the faithful and dedicated staff who supported Janet with extraordinary care. The team at St. Paul’s ensured that her every need was met with love, compassion, and dignity. Their unwavering commitment made a tremendous difference in Janet’s life and brought comfort to those who loved her. Janet was showered with kindness and devotion until the end. A special thank you goes to her "Becky", Gina, Cheyenne, Dalisha, Ashley and Crystal. Your kindness, dedication, and support were truly phenomenal and will never be forgotten. Janet will be deeply missed, but her warmth, determination, and joyful spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Please keep Janet’s friends, housemates, caregivers, and her special “sister,” Amanda, in your thoughts as we remember, honor, and celebrate her life.
