James "Jamie" Michael Klotz

James “Jamie” Michael Klotz, 44 years old, passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He spent his final days exactly where he belonged—at home, surrounded by the family who loved him, cared for him, and remained by his side until the end. In the days before his passing, Jamie was baptized at home surrounded by his family, giving those who loved him a beautiful moment of peace and faith that they will carry with them always. Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Arthur C. Klotz Jr., whose memory and belongings remained deeply sentimental to him throughout his life. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Klotz; his brother, Scott Klotz, and sister-in-law, Katie Klotz; his niece, Madison Klotz, and nephew, Mason Klotz; his aunt, Dorothy Harvey; his aunt and uncle, Alice and Donnie Womble; their daughter, Justine, and her husband, Jacob; as well as many extended family members and friends who became family along the way. Jamie was a simple man in many ways, and some of the things that brought him the greatest happiness were found right at home. He loved being outside, working in the yard and growing vegetables and fruit. Every spring, he and Mason could be found outside together planting and tending the garden—a tradition that gave an uncle and his nephew time together that Mason will carry with him for the rest of his life. His relationship with Madison began with plenty of laughter. When she was a toddler, Jamie would do just about anything to make her laugh—including allowing her to lock him inside the dog crates while she thought it was the funniest thing in the world. He happily played along because making her smile was worth it. Jamie loved music and especially loved playing his acoustic guitars. Some of the best memories were made with Jamie playing guitar around a campfire, surrounded by family and friends. He loved animals—cats perhaps even more than humans—and held an especially tender place in his heart for his beloved Rosie girl. Rosie was his companion, and his family will make sure she continues to receive more than enough love for him. Jamie was also a collector. Coins, little trinkets, and sentimental treasures mattered to him, particularly the belongings that connected him to his dad. Things didn’t have to be valuable to anyone else to be valuable to Jamie; if something carried a memory, it mattered. Perhaps one of the greatest reflections of how Jamie lived can be seen in how he was surrounded at the end of his life. During his final weeks and days, family members and friends who were truly more like family made the time to come sit with him, talk with him, laugh with him, reminisce, and simply be present. Jamie was able to see just how many people loved him. His final days were peaceful. He was cared for at home around the clock by his family, surrounded by familiar voices, familiar faces, and an extraordinary amount of love. Even when he could say very little, the few words and responses he gave were treasured. Cancer took far too much from Jamie, but it never took away the love surrounding him. Those who knew Jamie will remember the man with a guitar beside the campfire, the gardener patiently waiting to see what would grow, the uncle willing to climb into a dog crate just to hear his little niece laugh, the collector who understood the value of memories, the cat dad who adored his Rosie girl, and the son, brother, uncle, and friend who was deeply loved. Jamie left this world peacefully, surrounded by family, knowing that he was loved. And because of the faith affirmed through his baptism before his passing, his family finds comfort in knowing that this goodbye is not forever. He fought his fight. He finished his race. And now Jamie is Home. Services for Jamie will be held at First Baptist Church of Waldorf (10045 Bunker Hill Rd, Waldorf, MD) on Thursday, October 1st at 11 AM, with lunch to follow.
