Homer "Butch" Franklin Weakley

Homer F. Weakley, a lifelong resident of Brandywine, Maryland, passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 76. Homer was a hardworking man who spent many years working as an oil technician at Southern Maryland Oil (SMO). He was proud of his work and understood the value of providing for the people he loved. But after retirement, Homer found a different kind of work. Work that brought him joy, purpose, and plenty of good memories. Retirement gave Homer more time to enjoy the things he loved most: his family, the outdoors, his garden, and the simple pleasures of life. He especially enjoyed fishing and crabbing with his son, Troy. Those days spent together were about much more than what they caught—they were about time together, conversations, laughter, and memories that will stay with Troy forever. Homer also loved visiting his daughter, Brandy, and spending time with his grandchildren, Kimmie and Robby. His family was one of the greatest sources of happiness in his life, and the memories they made together will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Another special part of Homer's life was his garden. He took pride in growing fresh produce and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with others. On weekends, Homer could be found selling produce, turning something he loved into an opportunity to connect with people in his community. His garden was more than a garden, it was a reflection of Homer himself: hardworking, generous, and always willing to share what he had. Homer leaves behind his sister, Linda (Tom); his son, Troy (Trish); his daughter, Brandy (Bobby); his three grandchildren, Kimmie, Robby, and Ryan; and many cherished family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss him dearly. There is a bittersweet comfort in saying goodbye. While those who remain will feel his absence in countless ways—in quiet moments, family gatherings, days spent near the water, and memories that suddenly bring a smile—there is also comfort in knowing that Homer has not truly gone alone. He has gone home to Linda Lee, the love of his life. After a lifetime of memories here on earth, Homer and Linda are together again. And perhaps somewhere beyond what we can see, the two of them are catching up on all the time that passed, with Homer holding the hand of the woman he loved and finally at peace. His hands may no longer tend to the garden, and his weekend produce stand may be gone, but the seeds Homer planted in the lives of others will continue to grow. In Lieu of flowers, the family welcomes, memorial plants, banquets, cards, prayers, and shared memories as they celebrate Homer’s life. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17th, 2026, from 12 – 2 PM. With a Memorial Service at 2 PM. A celebration of life will be held at Homer’s daughter’s house, at 4 PM.
