Deborah Ann Buchanan Perry

Deborah Ann Buchanan Perry passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of 66. She was born on April 14, 1957, in La Plata, MD, to Betty (Morgan) Buchanan and Calvin Buchanan. Debbie's upbringing instilled in her values of compassion, kindness, and community service. She shared a close bond with her sisters Cheryl, Beverly, and Carla, as well as her brother Warren. Debbie graduated from Thomas Stone High School in 1975, where she demonstrated her wit and spirit. After completing her education, Debbie embarked on a remarkable career serving her country in the federal government workforce. For 39 years, she devoted herself to various roles, ultimately concluding her career at the US Coast Guard. Her commitment and professionalism earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Beyond her professional endeavors, Debbie found fulfillment in giving back to her community. She spent years volunteering at local fire departments in Ironsides, Nanjemoy, West Annapolis, and Graysonville, embodying the spirit of service. Debbie had a zest for life and found joy in the simple pleasures it had to offer. She delighted in the excitement of cruise ships, the tranquility of a beautiful beach, and the thrill of finding a great deal. Her recent years were enriched by the companionship of her beloved service dog, Dawson, a faithful Golden Retriever who brought her comfort and solace. Debbie's greatest source of pride and joy was her family. She adored her two children, Jennifer and Jeffery, and cherished the moments spent with them. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Alexis, Jeremy, Jared, and Phoenix, who gave her ample opportunity to laugh. In addition to her immediate family, Debbie leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who brought her happiness and measures of delight throughout the years. Although Debbie is preceded in death by her parents and son Jeff, her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In honor of her compassionate nature and love for animals, the family requests that donations be made to your local humane society in lieu of flowers. Deborah Ann Perry Buchanan will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace, knowing that she touched the lives of many and left behind a legacy of love and service that will endure for generations to come. Service for Debbie will be April 26, 2024, at Raymond Funeral Home Old Washington Rd La Plata, MD with visitation starting at 9am and service beginning at 11am. Interment will be private.
