Concettina Carpentiere

Concettina Marie (Marino) Carpentiere, 101, of Newburg, Maryland, died on Monday, September 10, 2007 at the Genesis La Plata Center in La Plata, MD. Born on May 18, 1906 in Middletown, CT, she is the daughter of the late Giuseppina (Bartolotta) and Antonio Marino. She spent most of her life in Middletown. She attended St. John’s School, graduated from Central School and Higgins Business School in 1922. She helped her parents in their maccaroni factory and later in her mother’s grocery and dry goods store. She married Francesco Carpentiere in 1925 and was married until his death in 1982. She held jobs at Brown Thompson Department Store, Jerome Garment and W. T. Grants, retiring in 1976. Her favorite pastimes were going to the beach and gardening. She was a wonderful cook, especially enjoying preparing traditional Christmas Eve dinners. She was fortunate to have made two trips to Italy. Most important to her were family, her religion and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her sisters Anna Marie and Angelina; brothers Sebastian “Mike,” Joseph and Anthony. She is survived by daughter Constance “Tina;” son Joseph and his wife Joan; granddaughters Marcella and her husband James Townsend, Christa and her husband Christopher Budd; great grandchildren Nicholas and Julia Townsend; brother C. J. “Larry” Marino and his wife Rosalie; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 17, 2007 from 8:30AM to 9:30AM at the D’Angelo Funeral Home 22 South Main Street Middletown, CT. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10AM on Monday, September 17, 2007 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 155 Washington Street Middletown, CT. Interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill, CT. Pallbearers are William Dawson, Daniel Dawson, Anthony Marino, John Botti, Mark Loomis and Jack Botti. A Memorial Mass will be held at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue, Maryland at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Ghost Catholic Church 15848 Rock Point Rd.
