Anna Marie Edwards

Anna Marie (Lunceford) Edwards, wife of Robert Charles Edwards, passed away on August 3, 2020 at home, surrounded by her loved ones and with her husband of 68 years by her side. She was born on January 30, 1932 at Georgetown Hospital in Washington, D.C. to the late Mary Hogan Lunceford and Amos William Lunceford of Marshall, VA. As a child, she had fond memories spending many summers with her brother and relatives on their family farm in Delaplane, VA. She attended Immaculate Conception Academy Catholic School and St. Mary's in Washington, D.C. She had many Sorority Sisters. She graduated from Strayer College and went to work for PEPCO. On June 7, 1952 she married a young Marine named Robert Charles Edwards. They had a traditional Irish wedding. Together they raised three children. Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and her beloved dog Charlie "Cha Cha." She also enjoyed taking trips to Florida, shopping, eating crabs and was a fan of the Redskins. She was a member of the Clinton Lady Lions Club. She was proud of her Irish roots and proud of her mother, an Irish Immigrant from County Clare, Ireland. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great-grandson. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, William Joseph "Buddy" Lunceford. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Charles Edwards; three children, Denice Edwards Schroeder and husband Doug of Bryantown, MD, Robin Edwards Carrico and husband Rudy of Bryantown, MD, and Glenn Edwards and wife Meghan of Olney, MD; grandchildren, Christopher Schroeder and wife Trier, Jessica Fynn and husband Dominic, Brittany Carrico, Eleanor Brooke Carrico, Rudolf A. Carrico, III, Glenn Charles Edwards, Jr., Jack Blaa and Abby Blaa; great-grandson, Weston Ray Schroeder; and sister-in-law, Annette Raminez and her husband Ritchie. Marie cherished her close friendships with the Lee, DeFelice and Crupi families as well. Funeral services and Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made, in Marie's memory, to Hospice of Charles County, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.
