William (Willie) Francis Barbour

May 14, 1939 - March 20, 2022

William (Willie) Francis Barbour, son of the late William Francis Barbour and Mary Margaret (Thomas) Barbour was born on May 14, 1939, in St. Mary’s County Maryland. William was the third of eleven siblings. On Sunday, March 20, 2022, Willie peacefully finished his life journey and went on to be with his Heavenly Father. Willie married Nellie Ann Brown, November 27, 1960, out of this union they had eight children. Willie was educated in St. Mary’s County Public School System. After schooling he was a farmer. He later went to work for Charles County Community College as a Custodian, after 25 years of service, he retired in June 1998. Willie had many hobbies such as fishing, crabbing, farming, playing cards with family and friends. Willie leaves to cherish his memory his wife Nellie of 62 years, four sons; William Melvin (Tammy), Rodney Michael (Dorcey), Larry Jerome and James Sterling; five daughters; Delores Knott (Ernest), Arlene Cynthia, Brenda Spurgeon, Angela Rawlings (Kirk) and Sabrina Wells; two brothers Thomas and Robert Barbour (Natasha); three sisters Mary Jennifer, Thelma Bowman (Louis) and Theresa Barbour: three brothers-in-laws Freddie (Rosie), Thomas (Tina) and Louis Brown (Jessica); four sisters-in-law Margaret Dorsey, Mary Johnson, Pat Dyson (Tim), Louise Smothers (Wade) and twenty grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, extended brothers and sisters (Rice Family and Sam & Amy) along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to whom he held dear. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Williams Francis and Mary Margaret Barbour, his four brothers James Joseph, David Leon, Charles Ignatius and John Melvin and one sister Lydia Ann Barbour. One sister-in-law Annie M. Adams. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 9:30AM until time of Mass at 11AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church (Issue), 15848 Rock Point, Newburg, Maryland 20664. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
