Wanda Howard Boley, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2021 in La Plata, Maryland. She was born on March 22, 1939 in Alva, Kentucky to Mary and Ralph Howard. She was the oldest of five children. After graduating from Black Star High School in 1957, she moved to Washington DC to work as a Fingerprint Typist at the FBI. She met the love of her life, Dan M. Boley, who also worked at the FBI, at a work-sponsored bowling league, and they were married on March 25, 1961. They had two children, Dana Martin and Julie Anna, and raised their family in Camp Springs, Maryland. She was a stay-at-home mom for a time and then returned to work as an Intelligence Analyst for The Department of the Navy. Wanda enjoyed retirement in Reedville, Virginia where she was active in the community. She volunteered at the Northumberland County Library. She was a docent at The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum and was a member of United Methodist Women at Bethany United Methodist Church. She organized the Easter egg hunts and 4th of July festivities in Reedville for many years. She was a member of the Chesapeake Bay Garden Club and enjoyed playing mahjong. She was a doting grandmother and loved her family more than anything. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Howard Cornelius. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dan M. Boley and her children, Dana Martin (Mary) and Julie Boley Peach (Andy); her grandchildren, Samantha Rae Brady (Austin), Shelby Morgan Boley (Robbie Parker), Sarah Kelsey Boley (David Rice), Anna Tulen Peach and James Gavin Peach; her great-grandchildren, Declan Cruz Parker, Marc Nolan Brady and Scott Martin Brady; her sisters, Pauline Howard Tipton and Hazel Howard; her brother, Nathanael Howard (Sheila); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A life celebration will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 1PM at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 454 Main Street, Reedville, Virginia 22539. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum or Bethany United Methodist Church in Reedville.
