Robert "Bob" Fluharty Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert “Bob” Fluharty, 82, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away on July 15, 2022. He finally succumbed after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Born on January 20, 1940 in Hollidays Cove, West Virginia, he was the son of the late George Fluharty and Carrie Fluharty. Mr. Fluharty served twenty-two and a half years with the U. S. Air Force before retiring in 1979 at the rank of Captain. After his retirement, he went to work for Honeywell as an Industrial Engineer, retiring in 1994. Bob found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, teaching many of them how to fish, ride a bike, and to enjoy the outdoors together. He also enjoyed listening to blue grass and gospel music and attended many a Gaither concert with his wife, Ruth. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fluharty was preceded in death by his sister Marjorie Jean Fulton and his brother Carson Lee Fluharty. Mr. Fluharty is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Jean Fluharty; sons Michael Robert Fluharty and his wife Ginger, Jeffrey Robert Fluharty and his wife Jeanine; brother George Paul Fluharty; grandchildren Michael, Allison, Jonathan, Justin, Julianna, and Jillian Fluharty and great grandsons Nicholas Robert and Finn William Fluharty. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 9:30AM until time of service at 11AM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 55635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 with the Reverend Larry Barkley officiating. Interment to follow at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623. Pallbearers are sons Mike and Jeff, grandchildren Michael, Jonathan, Justin, and Julianna.
