Michael Joseph Monaco, born January 21, 1949, in Washington, D.C.; died June 26, 2021 at Univ. of Md. Midtown Hospital after a 9-month battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Joseph F. and Gertrude J. (O’Leary) Monaco. First 11 years lived in Washington DC, N.E.; moved to New Carrollton, MD; graduated from St. Anthony’s High School, class of 1966; graduated with a degree in Business from Penn State; Was a boy scout; delivered the Washington Post in Wash DC and then New Carrollton, MD; boy’s church choir; played football in high school; University of Maryland, then joined the Marines, trained at Camp Lejeune, then stationed in Okinawa; continued his education at Penn State; met Lois Hodges, the love of his life, they married in 1976 and he took on role of father to her 3 children; coached little league football; volunteered at St. Peter’s elementary school; was the neighborhood “parent”; volunteered at annual Art fund raiser; earned Drone certification; honorary Pit Crew member with NAPA; got certification to be a COVID contact tracer; assisted at annual “ladies” weekend taking on the role of chef, social director and “Reverend” officiating “wedding” ceremonies. He found love again and spent the last 6 years with Suki; she introduced him to golf, taking trips and the easier life. He worked at Southern Tire for 34 years, as Store Manager. In 2019 he went part time then finally retired spring of 2020 when Covid hit the world. Named Michael - after Guardian Angel Michael – lived his life as guardian angel to all. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lois Monaco, his sister Jean Humphreys and his brother Albert Monaco. He is survived by his sons, Jimmy (Tammy) Reulet of Mechanicsville and David Reulet (Kelly Carroll) of Waldorf; daughter Cheri Reulet of Avenue, MD; and grandchildren, Chris, Diana, Melanie, A. J., Michael, Matthew, Madison, Michelle and Josh; great grandchildren Curtis, Levi, Orson and Aria; sisters; Mary Ellen (Larry) Chanin, Angelina (Paul) Robb and brother, James (Kathy) Monaco and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata, MD on Monday, July 12, 2-4 and 6-8. A Christian Mass to be held at St. Peter’s Church in Waldorf, MD on Tuesday, July 13.
