Kenneth Eugene Semler, 88, of Pomfret, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his residence. Born on September 12, 1933 in Yellow Springs, Ohio, he was the son of the late John H. Semler and Florence Semler. Ken served in the U.S Air Force during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1962 at the rank of Tech Sergeant. He retired after 35 years in the service, Civil Service for the U.S. Government. Ken was a member of the Waldorf Moose, the American Legion Post 82 in La Plata and Swan Point Yacht Club. He enjoyed boating and fishing. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his bride of 30 years, Sharon Gail Semler; daughter Melody Bohannan; sisters Betty Davis and Marjorie Wix; brother Jack Selmer; and his favorite black lab, Doc. He is survived by his children Gene S. Russell and her husband Steve, Karla Briscoe and her husband Thomas W. Grant Cochran, and Scott M. Cochran; grandchildren David C. Rigotti, Katelyn J. Rigotti, Helena Kirby and her husband Chris, Derek Briscoe and his wife Audrey, and Brent Briscoe and his wife Lauren; great grandchildren Tyler Kirby, Abigail Kirby, Emerson Kirby, Olive Briscoe, Benjamin Briscoe, and Leela Briscoe; also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Gathering will be on April 25, 2022 from 4pm to 6pm with services beginning at 6pm at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment on April 26, 2022 at MD Veteran Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306.
