John Martin Koper Jr Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Martin Koper, Jr., 79, of Waldorf, MD passed away on July 17, 2022 at the Charles County Hospice House. John was born on August 21, 1942 in Takoma Park, MD to the late Minnie H. (Davis) and John M. Koper, Sr. John received his Bachelors of Science Degree from The University of Maryland. He was an Engineer in the private industry and for the Federal Government; he loved his profession as an Aeronautical Engineer. After retirement he was a Legislative Officer for the American Association of Retired Persons, and the Vice President of the Pinefield Civic Association. He enjoyed Jazz, a good IPA beer, and British detective shows. He was an avid supporter of Maryland and Washington, DC sports, especially the University of MD Terps. John was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD and the only thing he loved more than the Lord was his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Koper, and sister in-law, Carolyn Koper. John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda (Phelps) Koper, sons; Christopher S. Koper and his wife Cynthia Lum, and Chad W. Koper and his wife Misty, brothers; Stanley Koper, and Randolph Koper, sisters; Cynthia Albrecht and her husband Robert, Teresa Brumfield and her husband Adam, and Diana Neeriemer, sister’s in-law; Kerttu Koper, and Paula Dodson and her husband Mike, and a large extended family. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3320 St. Peter’s Drive, Waldorf, MD 20601. Inurnment will follow in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in John’s name are asked to be made to Charles County Hospice House, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.
