Gregory J. Croston April 22, 1958 – June 3, 2022 Gregory Jerome Croston, 64 of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022, with his loving family by his side. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer nearly 2 years ago and fought the biggest fight of his life with dignity and true courage. Greg was a true warrior. Greg was born on April 22, 1958, in Toledo Ohio to Olga A. Gamble and the late Robert L. Croston; predeceased by his 2 brothers in the past 5 months, Robert (Bob-Sundown) Croston and Tim (Buck) Croston. He was also predeceased by his stepfather Leroy (Buck) Gamble who raised him and taught him everything he knew about operating heavy equipment and to be an honest person in life. Greggie (what everyone called him) was a simple man that lived a simple life. He had a big heart, wonderful sense of humor and a contagious sense of spirit. He was the true definition of “Mr. Fix-It”; a true talent to be able to fix anything that was broken or at least alter it in “his” fashion to get it working again. Greg loved the outdoors and especially anything with wheels, whether it was 2 or 4. Later in his life his new passion was for working at the marina at Abner’s Marina in Chesapeake Beach Md. He loved working on boats and anything that needed tending for over 20 years. Greg was especially excited to be able to go out fishing, crabbing, and oystering with the guys in the Chesapeake Bay. Funny story was that Greg was only supposed to work for Abner’s for a 2-week period but ended up being part of the family and was there until May 2022. Greg also worked at Brandywine Companies in Brandywine Maryland for 20 years. Greg is survived by his beautiful Mother, Olga Gamble of La Plata, sister and brother-in-law, Beckie & Kirk Rich of King George Virginia, his son, Andrew T. Croston and Grandson, Zyair Croston of Alexandria Virginia. Greg will be greatly missed by his sister-in-law, Bonnie Croston of Waldorf, Maryland, Niece Robin Bussert and her family in Corpus Christi, Texas, Great-Nephew Herb Pusey of Waldorf, Maryland. Greg leaves behind many other family members that he loved dearly but far too many to mention. A visitation for family and friends will be held on June 13, 2022 at 4pm to 6pm until time of Memorial Service at 5pm at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata Maryland 20646. Interment will take place at a later date.
