November 5, 1932 - January 21, 2021
Geraldine M. Kane (née Fairfax), 88, of Accokeek, Maryland passed away peacefully in her sleep after a short illness on January 21, 2021 at Genesis La Plata Center where she had resided for the past 2 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Kane, who passed away on December 11, 2016. Born in Arlington, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. Fairfax and Iona P. Fairfax (née Cumberland). “Jerri” was an avid reader, often reading the works of her favorite authors as fast as they were published. She was also very fond of gardening and had a green thumb. In addition to the many flowering plants, she kept both inside and out, of which her favorite was the orchid, she raised a sizable collection of her beloved African Violets. She also liked collecting milk glass and Avon Miss Albee figurines. We will always remember the depth of her love, the strength of her will, and the care and interest she took in the lives of those she loved. When we think of her, which we invariably always will, we will think of the warmth of her smile and the sound of her laugh, and carry that with us always. She is survived by her brother Francis Fairfax and his wife Jean, and her sister Constance Moore, also her son John Kane and his wife Shelly, Kathleen Drop and her husband Michael, and her son, Kristopher Kane. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Kane and his wife Robin, Jamie Kane and his wife Jill, Patrick Drop and his wife Amanda, and Katherine and Michael Drop. She took great pleasure in her grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed numerous nieces, and nephews. At this time due to Covid safety restrictions, service date and times are pending. The family will notify family and friends as soon as that information is known. Please check Raymond Funeral Service’s website periodically as it will be updated once arrangements have been finalized.
