Carolyn Corrine Babich

June 3, 1936 - February 2, 2022

Our beautiful mother, Carolyn Corrine “Carnie” Babich, 85, of Cobb Island, Maryland, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 2, 2022. Carolyn was born on June 3, 1936 in Silver Spring Maryland to the late William F. Engel and the late Lillian May (Mott) Engel. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Joseph “Joe” Babich. She graduated from Montgomery Blair High School and remained a lifelong Maryland resident. After raising her family, she got her real estate license and became a “Super Agent” before retiring. Formerly of Fort Washington, she moved to Cobb Island shortly after the death of her husband, Joe. Carolyn had an effervescent personality and she loved to laugh. She enjoyed telling stories of the crazy, fun situations she enjoyed with her best friends, Bobbie Koehler and Betty Green. She often told of how she babysat Goldie Hawn, who lived in her neighborhood growing up. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed multiple visits to Hawaii. Those visits came to an end though when Magnum PI was cancelled and Tom Selleck moved back to California. She had a huge crush! We will miss her unique sense of humor and her bright beautiful smile. She is survived by three sons, Robert W. Renfro (Donna), Raymond “Mike” Renfro, Daniel J. Babich (Maria); one daughter, Carrie J. Delaney (Donald); seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Piscataway, 13401 Piscataway Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to Hospice of Charles County, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20603.
