William Shughart

William Earl Shughart of Dentsville, Maryland, died suddenly on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD. He was 52 years old. Born on December 12, 1959 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he was the son of P. Earlene Shughart and the late Harry Orlin Shughart. Earl owned and operated SWS Fabrication Specialist, Inc. for over 30 years. He was a life member of the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department, the Charles County Volunteer Special Operations Collapse Team, the Charles County Emergency Services Tactical Response Team, the American Welding Society (AWS), the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metal Association (NOMMA), the Artist’s Blacksmith Association of North America (ABANA), and the Virginia Task Force 1(VA-TF1) Urban Search and Rescue as a Heavy Rigging and Equipment Specialist. While serving with the Virginia Task Force 1, he was deployed with the team to Nairobi, Kenya for the 1998 Embassy Bombing, Izmit, Turkey for the 1999 Earthquake, Touliu, Taiwan for the 1999 Earthquake, Ducze, Turkey for the 1999 Earthquake, the Pentagon for the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001. In 1996 he aided with the Idaho Wildfires as a member of the Maryland Forestry Western Fire Crew. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, attending wine festivals and spending time with his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved companion Donna Davis and her son Joshua Davis; his daughters Kimberly D. and her husband Neill Beswick of Mechanicsville, MD, Krystle M. and her husband Andrew Rossignol of California, MD; his brother Harry O. II and his wife Katherine Shughart of Waldorf, MD; his sisters Jacqueline and her husband Michael Willett of Port Tobacco, MD, Teena and her husband Jeff Schwering of Missouri; grandchildren Addison, Camrynn, Aubrey; also survived by aunts, uncles and nieces. Visitation on Monday, March 26, 2012 from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM with Fireman’s Prayers at 7PM at the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department 911 Washington Avenue La Plata, MD 20646. Funeral Service on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 beginning at 10AM at the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department 911 Washington Avenue La Plata, MD 20646. Pallbearers will be Harry Shughart II, Steve Mruk and members of the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department. Interment to follow at Old Durham Church Cemetery Ironsides, Maryland.
