Tamara Short

Tamara Elaine Short of Hughesville, MD died on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Burnett-Calvert Hospice House in Prince Frederick, MD. She was 49 years old. Mrs. Short was a Special Agent for 18 years with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) most recently assigned at Bolling AFB. She was deployed to Iraq in 2004 as a Civilian Special Agent, supporting Air Force missions. She has received numerous military awards and decorations and was a member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), and the Southern Illinois Police Chief’s Association (SIPCA). She received a Masters Degree from Webster University in Albuquerque, NN. In her earlier years, she was a member of Job’s Daughters and later a member of Al Sihah Temple #29 Daughters of the Nile and the Alton Chapter 775 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron. She was also an active member of The Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club MD IV, The Christian Motorcycle Association Southern Messenger’s Chapter, and The All American Harley Owners Group of Hughesville, MD. Her loves were her family, her church, AFOSI, and her motorcycle families. Daughter of the deceased Warren H. Howard and the living Elaine Edwards Howard. Predeceased by her father, Warren H. Howard, and one son, Jeffery Lynn Oberts. Survived by her husband, Raymond Louis Short, Jr.; her mother, Elaine Edwards Howard of Alton, IL; four children, Michael Daily and his wife Tracy of Owings, MD, Angela McKee and her husband Jared of Plainfield, IN, Jaime Dunbar and her husband Paul of Waldorf, MD, and Christopher Short of Greenbelt, MD; one brother, Warren A. Howard of Erie, PA; and three sisters, Susan Treadway and her husband Carl of Brighton, IL, Peggy Harper and her husband Robert of Carrollton, TX, and Patti Sue Smith and her husband Larry of Layton, UT. Also survived by seven grandchildren. Visitation: Monday, February 6, 2012 from 12 Noon-2PM and 4- 6PM with a Memorial Service at 6PM at New Life Wesleyan Church (9690 Shepherd’s Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646). Clergy: Pastor Todd Crofford and Pastor Mike Hilson There will be an additional visitation on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 4-8PM with an Eastern Star service at 5PM and a prayer service at 6PM at Gent Funeral Home (2409 State Street, Alton, IL 62002-5108). Memorial Service and Interment: Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11AM at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
