Michael Todd Castle

Michael Todd Castle, 51, of Welcome, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata. Fondly known as Mike, he is the son of Paula Dowell Castle and the late Joel Dean Castle. In addition to his mother Paula, Mike is survived by his daughter Audrey Castle and her mother Amanda Castle, brothers Matthew Castle, James Castle and his wife Lara; niece Maya Abell; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mike started his professional career in printing as a bindery machine operator working his way up to Bindery Foreman at Art and Negative Printing in Lanham, MD. He would eventually become a self-employed plumber. Mike had many, many passions including dirt track racing, hunting and fishing. His love of racing led him to start racing in the Enduro Class at the dirt track in Budds Creek, MD in the 90’s, following the lead of his good friend and driving coach Billy Stickel. His passion for hunting, which he inherited from his father, would eventually take him on a bi-annual trip to Bear Hunt in Fort Coulonge Quebec, Canada. Mike would gather his best hunting buddies on a 700 mile trip, with a trailer full of all necessities needed for a week in the wilderness. Mike also had a tremendous talent for fixing anything. The last 7 years, Mike has spent his life loving his role of father to his daughter Audrey. He was devoted and spent all of his spare time with her, even becoming self-employed so that he could create a schedule that revolved around her. Mike never met a stranger who he didn’t become instant friends with. Once you met Mike, you knew you had a loyal friend for life. He would do anything for you, no matter what time of night or day, or distance he needed to go. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all of the family and friends that have reached out to express their condolences and to especially thank Rodney Tipton for being there in Mike’s time of need. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Waldorf Moose Lodge, 4765 Crain Highway, White Plains, Maryland 20695 from 2pm – 8pm. Interment will be private.
