Margaret Mary Renner

Margaret Mary Renner (Margie), 92, of Waldorf MD died peacefully at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, MD, on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Margie was born on October 14, 1931, in Washington DC to the late Margaret Mary (Gruss) and Emil Carl Renner. She retired after many years of federal service as a Maritime Data Assistant for the Maritime Administration within the Department of Commerce. After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, helping family and friends, volunteering and serving in organizations such as the Charles County Women’s Club, and the Charles County Re-Use Barn Project. Margie was a devout Catholic serving in the Third Order Society of Mary, the Blue Army, St. Peter’s Cenacle and was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters, Court St. Peter’s. She would walk to a local church to attend Mass daily. She loved being a Godmother to so many friends and family as well as teaching Sunday school to share her love for the Lord. Margie also had a fond affection for animals, especially cats. She rescued an entire cat colony ensuring they were fed and had a place to call home. She had an extensive Garfield the Cat collection which won a blue ribbon at the Charles County Fair. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Veronica Baldwin, Charles Renner, Helen Miller and Ernest Renner. She is survived by her brother Jacob Renner, sister Teresa Renner and niece/caretaker Katherine Miller. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews as well as many friends and relatives. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 10:30-11:45am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 (noon) at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 100 Village Street, Waldorf, Maryland. Interment will follow at Saint Peter’s Parish Cemetery, Waldorf, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in memory of Margaret Renner to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Maryland, Carmel of Port Tobacco, 5678 Mount Carmel Road, La Plata, MD 20646-3625 or in remembrance of Margie’s love for her cats, donations may be made to the family to continue the care of her rescued cat colony.
