Keya Germaine Ferris

Keya Germaine Ferris- 79, was born October 17, 1944 to Harry and Jean Ferris. Keya resided with her parents in Hughesville, MD until 1983 when she began services with Spring Dell Center. Keya grew up in Charles County. As a child she attended a local Catholic school for her education. Keya was a participant and resident with her Spring Dell Center family for 40 years. Keya held several jobs over the years, primarily in the retail field. She took pride in always doing a good job. Keya developed deep friendships with people and kept those relationships through her lifetime; she didn’t forget a friendly face and she left a lasting impact on all she knew. Keya was a vibrant, jovial, loving woman, and at times a bit feisty. She always had an interesting little story to share, followed up with her trademark saying, "It's true!" Favorite pastimes in her later years were working puzzles, doing crafts and eating out with her friends where she loved a good steak. She thoroughly enjoyed getting her nails done, watching favorite television shows and going to church. Keya was predeceased by her parents and sister Jami. She is survived by her beloved sisters, Paula and Bronna and 11 nieces and nephews. She also leaves many extended family and friends to cherish her memory. Most lovingly she leaves her housemates of decades; Melanie, Betty and David and the staff who cared so deeply for her. She enjoyed special visits with her sister Paula and loved anytime she got to see other family members. Those that had the pleasure of having Keya in their lives were given the gift of a dear and faithful friend. We will all sorely miss the beaming smile that she shared each time we would meet, and the outpouring of love that radiated from her. Keya will be dearly missed. Friends will be received on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 9:30 AM until time of Service at 11:00 AM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Keya’s name are asked to the Spring Dell Center, 6040 Radio Station Road, La Plata, MD 20646.
