James "Jim" Kenneth MacIntosh Jr.

James “Jim” Kenneth MacIntosh, Jr., “Papa”, 86, of Fort Washington, MD, passed away on August 28, 2024 surrounded by his family. Jim was born on May 3, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York. He lived in Arlington, Virginia for most of his younger years, graduated from Wakefield High School, went on to obtain his bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland and master's degrees from the University of Maryland and Georgetown University. Jim proudly served in the United States Navy for 30 years, retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He also worked for the Government as a Computer Analyst for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. He obtained his pilot's license at the age of 50, then became a flight instructor with the FAA. After retirement he taught instrument flight training at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. In addition, he was a basketball and soccer referee as a member of the IAABO for many years. Jim loved his family and wanted only the very best for them. He was very active in the boys and girls club that his daughters participated in when they were young and coached many of their sports teams. He took them on adventures that they will never forget and was always there to encourage and inspire them throughout his life. He also enjoyed reading, camping and dancing but most of all, spending time with family. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Marie Walsh, and his father, James Kenneth MacIntosh, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jolean S. Pace MacIntosh, daughters; Tammy Jo Miller (Jeff), Teresa “Teri” Lee Kaczynski (Billy), Tracy Ann MacIntosh-Nolan (Tommy) and Jamie Kay MacIntosh (Tinkerbell), five grandchildren; Brandy (Justin), Jeffrey (Tiffani), Jessica (Wes), Danielle (Denny), and Nicole, 12 great-grandchildren; Kayla, Ada, Bentley, JT, Corey, Skylar, Scarlett, Noah, Jaxon, Denny Jr., Austin, and Autumn, brother, Robert Andrew MacIntosh (Barbara), sister, Katherine Marie Fox, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was loved by his family and friends and will always be remembered as a hardworking, wise and caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. He is flying high, watching over and admiring the amazing legacy and family that he helped build. He will be missed dearly. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 10:00 AM until time of Service at 12:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD, 20646. Repass immediately following the service at a location to be announced. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
