Geraldine Carole Cecil

Geraldine Carole Cecil, 82, of Bryantown, MD, passed away on June 21, 2024 at the home of her son, surrounded by her loving family, after an extended illness. Geraldine was born May 18, 1942 to Joseph Levi King, Sr. and Francis Ellen Lusby. Geraldine was one of six children. She was a 1960 graduate of Frederick Sasscer High School. Geraldine married Alan Gregory Cecil, Sr. on February 23, 1963 and together they had two children, Lori and Alan. She worked at GEICO for 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Later, when Lori and Alan were older she returned to work as a food service worker in Charles County schools. She retired from John Hanson Middle School and the Charles County Public Schools in June 2007. She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to yard sales, walking the mall, shopping, spoiling her grandchildren, and word search games. Geraldine always treasured her time taking trips with her family. Geraldine is survived by her daughter, Lori Hill, son-in-law, Donald (Hughesville, MD); son, Alan Cecil, Jr., daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (Mechanicsville, MD); brother, Richard King (Brandywine, MD); sister, Florence McClellan (Huntingtown, MD); grandchildren, Gregory Cecil, Benjamin Cecil, Ajay Hill and Leah Hill; great grandchildren, Payton, Lylah, Kade and Orion; and many other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband, Alan; her brothers, Joseph King, Jr. and Robert King and sister, Virginia Myers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 2:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. An additional Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Bryantown Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD. Pallbearers are; Gregory Cecil, Benjamin Cecil, Ajay Hill, Leah Hill, Richard King, Jr., Darin King and Brian Payne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Geraldine’s name may be made to Hospice of St. Mary’s, P.O. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD 20650 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place Bryantown, MD 20617.
