George Anthony Schneider Jr.

George Anthony Schneider, Jr., 91, of La Plata, MD passed away on September 14, 2023 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, MD. George was born on March 9, 1932, in Bronx, NY to the late Suzanna Staudermann and George Anthony Schneider, Sr. Out of high school, George joined the National Guard serving from 1947-1954, then transferred to the Army and served from 1954-1957 completing his ordinance training in Aberdene, MD. He served in Starubing, Germany as a tank mechanic and tank transporter. In 1958 he joined the Air Force serving at Andrew Air Force Base as a ground support mechanic for the aircrafts until 1962. After leaving the Armed Forces he continued working at Andrews Air Force Base a Civilian until the time of his retirement. George enjoyed hunting trips to Maine and New York, crabbing, fishing, camping and working on cars. He had a C.B. business and was a member of a C.B. club. He was a member of the Eutaw Forest Archery Club. He was very knowledgeable on cars. He was a member of the Antique Car Club of Southern MD, and owned several classic cars; 59 Ford, 42 Ford, 47 Cadillac, 74 Porsche, and a 76 Avanti. He went to Texas to purchase a special made 1939 Buick Coupe that he turned into a custom hot-rod by changing the body style and running gears. He spent some time commercial crabbing, rebuilding engines, and tree removal services with 4 Seasons. He enjoyed wood working and building furniture. George was a devout Catholic having been members and attending Mass at St. Joseph’s, Sacred Heart, Mt. Carmel Monastery, and St. Catherine’s. In addition to his parents George is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Aline Hamilton Schneider; sons; George “Puggie” A. Schneider, Carl “Benny” B. Berry, Jr, and Thomas “Sonny” L. Berry, Sr.; grandchildren; Sharon Berry, and Mark Berry, and brother, Gerald Schneider. He is survived by his son, James “Earl” Berry and his children; Debbie Gibson (Roy), Ruth Humphreys, Dawn Berry, Tina Berry, James Berry and each of their extended families; daughter, Grace “Lena” Bledsoe; Grand and Great-Grandchildren; Cassie Aleshire (Chris) and their children; Austin, and Rylee, Crystal Johnson (Matthew) and their children; Landon, Owen, Jaxson, and Adeline, Jamie McIntire (Nick) and their children; Brees, and Bryson, Greg Schneider (fiancé, Tiffany Douglas) and his son, Cohen, Thomas Berry Jr. (Lydia) and their Children; Thomas C. Berry (Hayleigh) and their child, Paisley, Tiffany Maston and her children; Chase, Colton, and Kennedy, and Cory Kalin (Briana) and their children; Conner and Gabriella, Terry Berry Parker and her children; Amber Owen, Desirae Berry and her children; Ava, Khari, and Amiri, and Joshua Parker, Benji Berry (Karen) and their children; Ryan and Kristen, Tammy Sapp (Rodney) and her daughter, Angel Martin, Chris Berry (Jennifer) and their son, Brendan, Kelli Wiley (Phil), and their children; Kourtney and Karly and Kevin Spillman and his children; Kevin, Jr. and Karl, and each of their extended families; and sister, Katherine Norcia (Frank); and many nieces and nephews. Friend will be received on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646 from 9:00 AM until time of procession at 10:30 AM to St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church 7865 Port Tobacco Road, McConchie, MD 20677 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow Mass at Mount Camel Monastery, 5678 Mount Carmel Road, La Plata, MD 20646. Pallbearers will be; Chris Aleshire, Matthew Johnson, Greg Schneider, Austin Aleshire, Landon Johnson, and Owen Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be; Tommy Berry, Jr., Thomas C. Berry, and Cory Kalin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in George’s name are asked to St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 7865 Port Tobacco Road, McConchie, MD 20677.
