George Nicholas Lyseight

George Nicholas Lyseight, 85, lately of La Plata MD, passed on to eternal rest on October 13, 2022. Born on July 18, 1937 in Jamaica, West Indies. He was the son of the late Abiathar Lyseight and Esmine (James) Lyseight. During his life George achieved a bachelors degree, and became a well thought of business man. He won many trophies and was awarded trips for being sales man of the year during his time working in insurance. Before becoming a man of business he was a mechanic at two local bowling alleys in Maryland. In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by four of his brothers: Hope, Abraham, Ruel and Johnny. He is survived by: his loving children- Andrea Lyseight-Delpesche, Annette Webster, and Robert Lyseight; 4 step-children; 8 plus grandchildren, 8 step-grands, and 10 great grandchildren; Sister- Lorna Lyseight McIntyre; brother- Maurice Lyseight, along with many other relatives and friends. George enjoyed grooming the lawn, especially while riding his lawnmower; working on crossword puzzles; assembling various projects using his tools; taking care of his koi pond and relaxing while watching the fish scurrying to eat. He also loved taking his “laps” as he walked briskly around the mall, sometimes out-lapping other mall walkers at St. Charles Towne Center. When he walked around the backyard or neighborhood, he used to challenge others to walk with him and to keep up with his pace. He was meticulous about his grooming and whenever any of his children would give him a haircut, he always gave instructions on how he wanted his hair trimmed- every time! One day his daughter threatened to give him a mohawk and he laughed so hard after saying “no mon!” George had a unique sense of humor, and even as he declined in health he would chuckle and make you laugh every now and then after telling a silly joke. Because George accepted Jesus into his heart, we hold onto the belief that he is in heaven trying to out-lap the angels on “the streets of gold”. Family and friends to gather at Raymond Funeral Services 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata MD 20646 for a closed casket on Monday October 24th, 2022 at 10am to 10:30. Homegoing service begins at 10:30am till departure to the cemetery at 11:30.
