Gail Margaret Seith

Gail Margaret Seith, 84, affectionately known as “GG”, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Gail was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 30, 1938 to the late Dorothy and Edward Kelly. She started out working at Acacia (an insurance company in DC) before she began her vocation as a homemaker and mother – doing an amazing job at both. She also enjoyed working at Hallmark and Hecht Company for a while once the kids had grown. Throughout her life, Gail resided in Brooklyn, New York, Arlington, Virginia, Bowie Maryland, and LaPlata, Maryland. Gail enjoyed being with her family, sipping on her favorite wine (White Zin), quilting, sewing, baking and cake decorating, taking care of the family, interior re-decorating every few months, and watching NCIS. She was a very charitable and devout Catholic. Gail belonged to the Sodality, Bible Group, Wine & Rosary, and Hawthorne Greene “College of Knowledge”, to name a few. As a concerned mom, whenever her children were starting to date someone new, she would always ask, “what’s their last name” and “are they Catholic?” And even though the house is an Irish-German split, mom made sure it was widely known, WE were Irish! As demonstrated by her perennial Irish Christmas Tree. In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Kelly. Gail is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob Seith, whom she married on January 23, 1960 in New York; her six children: Deacon Robert and Joni Seith, Melinda Jowett, Mark and Julie Seith, Kelly and Cliff Greene, Tori Seith, and Andrea Seith; her sixteen grandchildren, Kaitlyn McGrath, Father Chris, Logan, and Eric Seith; Willie, Whitney, Jessie, and Haleigh Jowett; Jonathan, Jaime, and Elizabeth Seith; and Samantha Rainone, Maddie, Shawn, Megan and Shannon Richards; her 4.5 Great-grandchildren- Kolbe, Karolyn, Caeli, and Brigid McGrath + Baby Rainone (due in July); cousins Karen Beeder, Bradley Ilg, and Maureen Grant. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 5PM to 8PM with Prayers at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 and on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 8:30AM to 9:00AM with the Rosary being recited at 9:00AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary’s Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 with Father Chris Seith, Gail’s grandson, as Principal Celebrant. All are welcome to a small gathering to be held in the Friendship room of Sacred Heart afterwards. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Gail’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery, P. O. Box 1390 La Plata, MD 20646. Three words that the family feels capture Gail’s spirit and exemplifies her life, are “Family, Faith, Celebration”
