Donna Marie Bailey

Donna Marie Bailey, age 59, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023, at her home in Waldorf, MD. Donna was the loving daughter of Frances Bailey and the late Joseph Bailey, of Leonardtown, MD. Donna was a fun loving, happy lady, who truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a long-time participant at Spring Dell Center. Donna was a very determined woman and a strong advocated for those with disabilities. Donna presented before the legislature in Annapolis, shared experiences and knowledge with children, and presented her story to the Maryland Association of Community Services at their annual state conference. Donna was never one to allow her challenges to set her back. Donna enjoyed painting. Though she did not have full use of her hands, she didn’t let that stop her. She shared her artistic talents by using a head pointer with a paint brush attached, to create her works of art. She took this skill and presented it at several local pre-schools, educating children on the differences in people and their abilities and how through will and determination, we can always find a way to do the things we love. The children were always amazed and intrigued by her presentation and excited to try another way! Her presentation was very impactful. Donna enjoyed being around children, especially babies. She also loved her family’s fur baby “Rylee” and delighted in visits from her. Donna was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, being their biggest cheerleader. She loved all things purple and was very artistic. Donna was also jovial and quite funny. Every now and again, she would surprise us with a quick one liner, enjoying the giggles she would get from others. Donna cherished living in her own home, with her friends Sam and Carolyn. She enjoyed her independence and the support she received from her loving caregivers. Donna was a kind, sweet soul who will be dearly missed by all that new her. Donna was predeceased by her father Joseph Bailey, her brother, Tommy Bailey; survived by her mother Frances Bailey, who she adored, her sister, Lisa (Chris) Curro. She is also survived by her extended family at Spring Dell Center, many friends, and other relatives. A gathering will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 10AM until time of memorial service at 11AM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donna's name to Spring Dell Center, 6040 Radio Station Road, La Plata, Maryland 20646.
