Diana Theresa Harley

“Diana Theresa Harley (Proctor)” April 27, 1948 - December 14, 2023 Born April 27, 1948, to George Walter Proctor & Elizabeth Gladys Proctor (Savoy), (Big Bud & Aunt Gladys) the third of three children, she was the baby sister to one sister,” Earlene Proctor, and to one brother William Walter (Buck) Proctor, who all preceded her in death. God rest their souls. She was married at the age of 18 to Thomas M. Harley Sr. and bore three children before getting divorced (9 years long). She is survived by her three children,” Thomas M. “MOE” Harley Jr. & wife Gale, Marcus D. “POO” Harley Sr., And Dina McIlwain, husband Ricky (deceased). Three grandsons: George W. I. Harley & wife Risharda, Marcus D. Harley Jr., Carlos R. McIlwain & wife Caity, two: Granddaughters Latoya Edwards & husband Anthony, Danielle McAllister and 10 Great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews with more children on the way, and a host of family and friends too numerous to name or count, including her AAFES family.” Her Last job was with Elaine’s Flower shop, she really enjoyed that time, being able to help so many people and getting reacquainted with other family members. Moms’ favorite things included reading novels, bowling, watching sci-fi, eating out, especially her Pepsi and crabs, and last but not least, she enjoyed her shopping whether with friends or alone they didn’t call her the dollar store queen for nothing. We all know she could be found out with Squeaky, Doreen, Elaine, and the Golden Girls, shining the biggest smile she could sport while doing it all. Diana was called home with the ones who went before her, on December 14, 2023, in the mid-day hour she slipped away peacefully after a short fight with her illness. Even though she left silently during this time, in the end she left in the company of her family unafraid and surrounded with love. Pray that we all get half as much in our own time. This alone would be enough to speak of, but Diana was a good person with a smile so contagious she would draw you into her world and make you forget all your problems regardless of what you were going through at the time. She is the type of person family & friends are always glad to see, and that strangers want to become friends with. Her family is what her world revolved around. She deserved a good life and lived as if she knew that the next day was going to be better than the last, even if she had to look for it herself. She wouldn’t complain about those little aches, pains, & trivial matters of the day. Just by being in the moment of her situation she would not have given in to self-pity and despair. She would just give a smile and a quiet little mmnph! No matter how hard I try or how long I write I just would not be able to put her whole life or what she was to so many inside these small pages! So, for many that are left with the question why and how to mourn her departure, we should keep in mind that she is in a far better place than us and the tears we shed should lead us to live our lives better not for anyone other than our own families and friends left to us in this world at this time, as it is plain to see that yesterday is gone and tomorrow is never promised to anyone. So, give praises and thanks to those around while they can hear it from you directly, leave no doubt in their heart mind or souls. Nothing we say can come close to filling the holes she has left or by expressing just how full of life she was, but we can make her time here just as meaningful as she has made those whose time came before her. Step up to make it better for the ones still to come in our families. So, all being said, tears being shed, & vows being made at this very moment, you should leave here with one thought, “What mark will I leave, what difference have or can I make, and how can I honor not only my family and friends, past, present, & future, but my Lord as well. God bless you all for coming here today as you leave to go back to your own families and friends know that although we were not ready to let her go, the lord was ready to receive her into his open arms and release her from all these earthbound woes and pains. “Rest in peace Momma, And may god keep your soul ready to rise on the last day!”
