Deborah Jean Krakow

Deborah Jean “Debbie” Krakow, 70, of La Plata, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 17, 2026. Born on November 21, 1955, in Bethesda, Maryland, Debbie was the beloved daughter of Ralph Jesse and Norma Jean Williams. A lifelong Maryland resident, she spent her childhood in Bryans Road and later raised her own family in La Plata, a community she loved deeply. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Williams, and her beloved children, Ashleigh Jean Posey and Christopher Wayne Posey. Despite enduring the heartbreaking loss of both of her children, Debbie carried herself with incredible strength, grace, and resilience. Her love for her family never wavered, and she found her greatest comfort and joy in her cherished grandchildren, Andrew Skatzes and McKenzie Brown, who were truly the light of her life. She is survived by her devoted husband and soulmate, Edward Krakow; her loving mother, Norma Williams; her brother, David Williams and his wife Tina; her grandchildren Andrew and McKenzie; and her nieces and nephew, Justin Williams, Kristen Schulz, and Sara Williams, along with their children and extended family and friends who loved her dearly. After graduating from Henry E. Lackey High School, Debbie began what would become a distinguished 38-year civilian career with the U.S. Navy. Starting as a clerk typist at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, she steadily advanced through dedication, intelligence, and hard work, ultimately retiring as a Senior Program Analyst for the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard. It was there that she met Ed, the love of her life and partner in all things. Debbie’s goal in life was beautifully simple: to live a happy life — and she truly did. She found joy and wonder in so many things: time spent with family in Maryland, Philadelphia, and Georgia, traveling the world, sharing laughter and memories with lifelong friends, and especially relaxing on a beautiful beach. Some of her fondest childhood memories were of summers spent in Ocean City, Maryland — parking at the Majestic Hotel, eating tomato sandwiches and Kool-Aid for lunch, and spending endless days in the surf and sand with her brother David and their treasured childhood friends. Debbie had a deep appreciation for the finer things in life. She took pride in creating a beautiful home and especially loved the elegance of Limoges and Tiffany pieces. Above all, it was her eternal optimism, kind spirit, and generous heart that defined her most. Debbie will be remembered as a sweet, kind, and generous soul whose warmth touched countless lives. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
