Colette Jane Dodson Delwiche

On October 7, 2024, Colette Jane Delwiche, born September 10, 1954, of La Plata, MD, gained her wings. Colette Delwiche is survived by her husband Raymond A. Delwiche and their children, Catherine Sidbury, Becky Rosamond, Eric Delwiche, Shawn Adams, Willie Delwiche, Julie Smoot, Shannon Fowler, David Delwiche, Rachel Hill and Andrew Delwiche. She is also survived by her sisters Cheryl France (Jim France) and Melinda Boyd. In addition to, 39 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Donald Dodson and Joan Dodson, her brother, Arlen Dodson, and her sister Darlene Dodson. Colette grew up in Clinton, MD, always surrounded by family. Most may not know she was the eldest of 5 and there were always family get togethers and reasons to hang out and play with cousins and extended family. Colette graduated from Surrattsville High School. She attended beauty school and was the local hairdresser and Avon lady for many. If you needed jewelry for a function coming up, she was the one you went to. If you needed an eyeshadow to match your outfit, she had it. Colette was an avid Star Trek watcher and even enjoyed going on a Star Trek cruise where she was able to meet several actors. Colette absolutely loved music and her go to’s were The Moody Blues, The Outlaws, Eagles and many more that she sang to. Colette’s life was filled with everything teal, not to mention her famous teal clip board that she wrote everything down on. Her organization was unrivaled as we all know how she was with her “Hallmark list”. She even had things planned for her own repass as she had the teal cups and silverware in a box and labeled. Colette and Ray took pride in helping to raise their granddaughter, Josephine and their great grandson, Eli. Whom we all know is the apple of their eye. Although Eli was not of age yet, Colette had him learning his colors, numbers and alphabet. He was an official graduate of “Nana University”. The family would like to thank you all for your prayers, calls, visits, food and concern at this difficult time. So, in the words of Colette, we gotta “put your big girl panties on and deal with it”. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. A Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Ignatius – Hilltop Catholic Church, 6455 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be private.
