Charlotte Marie Pickeral

Charlotte M. Pickeral, age 91, of La Plata, Maryland, passed away on March 4, 2021 at Genesis Waugh Chapel Center. Charlotte was the oldest of 12 children born in Hyattsville, Maryland to the late Paul E. Miller and the late Thelma Alford Miller. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Pickeral; sisters, Mary A. O’Quinn, Catherine Grant, Thelma E. “Betty” Clark, Margaret Hovasapian, and Olivia “Sissy” Murphy. Charlotte spent her early years in the Hyattsville area, enjoying the company of her beloved maternal grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins. She later moved to the TB/Brandywine area and attended Gwynn Park High School. As a wife and mother, she raised her daughters and worked at area hospitals and nursing homes throughout her career. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed weekly lunches with her sisters. She loved holidays, with Christmas being her favorite. She could hardly wait to decorate and plan the dinner menu. She was partial to snowmen and had quite a collection of them. She was an avid reader and could happily spend hours in a bookstore or library. After retirement, Charlotte spent 10 years living in Central Florida with her husband, daughters and their family. Her final years were spent back in Maryland, living with her family in La Plata. Charlotte leaves behind her two daughters, Susan Bennett and her husband, Arnett, of La Plata, Maryland and Cathy Cermele and her husband, Steve, of Indian Head, Maryland; one grandson, Rich Bennett and his wife, BJ; two great-granddaughters, Jordin Bennett and Morgin Bennett and her fiancé, Joey; three sisters, Gloria Herber Miller of Texas, Lillian Kennel of Waldorf, Maryland and Linda Dixon and her husband, William, of Brandywine, Maryland; and three brothers, Bradley Miller of La Plata, Maryland, Paul Miller, Jr. of Charlotte Hall, Maryland and Arthur Miller and his wife, Bobbie, of Brandywine, Maryland. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 10:30AM at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
