Charles Joseph Woodburn

Charles Joseph Woodburn, 85, of Waldorf, MD died on July 22, 2014 at the University of MD Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD. Mr. Woodburn retired as a Route Salesman of 38 years with Wonder Bread. He enjoyed his job and the customers he served. After his retirement, he accompanied and supported his wife with her real estate career. He was known as a selfless, compassionate, generous and caring man, and a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather – his wife and family were most important in his life. Growing up on a farm in St. Mary’s County, he developed a passion for nature where he loved being outdoors, the beauty of nature, the seasons, sunrise and sunsets, feeding and watching the birds, and a love for gardening. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is the son of the late Henry Tester Woodburn and the late Mary Grace Heard Woodburn. He is also predeceased by his brothers, James Henry Woodburn and Benedict Woodburn; and his brother-in-laws, David Harper; Harvey Bailey; and Frank Tamberino. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Ann Woodburn; his sons, John Charles Woodburn and his wife Patricia, Matthew James Woodburn and his wife Clara, and Mark David Woodburn and his wife Ai Van; his grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Woodburn, John Joseph Woodburn, Luke Henry Woodburn, Samuel Matthew Woodburn, and Amelia Clara Woodburn; his brother, Robert Woodburn and his wife Elizabeth; his sisters, Mary Rose Bailey, Doris Ann Dorsey and her husband Vernon, Catherine Lee Guy and her husband Charles, and Joan Russell and her husband Larry; and his sister-in-laws, Elsye Woodburn, Hilda Woodburn, Kathleen Tamberino, and Debbie Harper. Family and friends were received on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11AM at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3329 St. Peter’s Drive, Waldorf, MD 20601. Burial at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
