In Loving Memory of Byron O’Neil Moffett November 11, 1964 to September 29, 2023 Byron O’Neil Moffett, beloved husband, father, son and friend, departed, this world peacefully in his sleep on September 29, 2023, to begin his eternal rest. He was 58 years old. Byron was born in Erie, PA on November 11, 1964, to proud parents, Joel and the late, Dorris B. Moffett, in a close-knit family that offered a strong foundation for his life to come. He was a loving brother to Patrick Moffett and cherished late infant sister Freda Moffett, who together with mom welcomed him into their heavenly embrace. From his early years in Erie, Byron was an active and devoted member of the Antioch Baptist Church, where his faith was grounded, shaping his values and guiding him through his life’s journey. Byron’s dedication extended beyond his church, as for many years he poured his heart into his work at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie. He selflessly served his community, bringing comfort and care to those in need, touching many along the way. Relocating to Maryland in 2014, Byron continued his noble calling, working within the St. Mary’s Public School system at Benjamin Banneker. His commitment to education was equally notable, as he contributed to shaping young minds and inspiring the next generation. Byron’s heart was forever captivated by his beloved wife, partner, and confidante, Kelly Moffett, who faithfully stood by his side, sharing in life’s joys and challenges. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Byron’s love for Kelly was exemplified in the protection, provision, and servitude he extended to her at home and in public. As a devoted father, Byron leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance in the hearts of his children. He was the proud father of his daughter, Devin Moffett, and sons, Jordan Moffett and Braydan Moffett. Additionally, he embraced his role as a stepfather to Dylan Moyer and Kelsey Moyer, raising, nurturing and loving them as if they were his own. Byron’s joy was multiplied by the presence of his three cherished grandchildren, Jeremiah, Jionni, and Aria, for their immeasurable love, and treasured memories. In addition to his immediate family, Byron leaves a lasting impression on his nephew, Hunter Moffett, and nieces, Olivia Moffett and Nina Moffett. His love also extends to his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Byron’s life was marked by his gentle spirit, unwavering dedication to his loved ones, and a profound sense of kindness. He found solace in the simple joys of life, whether it was sharing a meal with family, cheering on his favorite football team (Dallas Cowboys), or coaching his son, Braydan’s team first “The Blue Knights, then later “The Southern Maryland Canes”. He will be remembered for his peaceful aura, humble spirit, and immeasurable love for his family. Byron Moffett’s legacy of love, provision, and compassion will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye to Byron, let us remember the love and laughter he brought into our lives. Though he may have departed this world in body, his spirit lives on in our cherished memories, and he will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
