Allen Curtis Thomas

Allen Curtis Thomas, 81, of Charlotte Hall, MD (and recently moved to Winfield, TN) passed away on May 19, 2026 while under Hospice care. Born on August 17, 1944 in Baltimore City, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Louise (Broyles) and the late Griffith Gipson Thomas. Allen moved to Dentsville, MD from Corriganville, MD with his family when he was 11 years old. He graduated from La Plata High School in La Plata, MD with the class of 1962. He was a respected husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was deeply adored by his close family. Allen’s work history was with SMO (Southern MD Oil), Mitchell Supply (MSI), and retired while working at JCV. On October 11, 1969, Allen married Patricia “Patsy” Murphy and was married for 56 years. In those years, they created a life filled with love, family, friends, and great memories. In addition to his loving and caring wife, Allen is survived by his daughter, Beverly Wilson (and her husband, Nate); his son, Brian “Bubba” Thomas (and his fiancé, Shannon Smith); his grandchildren, Danielle Thomas Mason (and her husband, Caleb), Natalie Thomas, Brittney Thomas, Shelby Smith, Coby Wilson, and Flint Wilson; and his siblings, Richard “Dickie” Thomas (and his wife Darlene), Ann Whitman (and her husband, David), Janet Clark, and Joyce Radtke. In his retirement years, Allen enjoyed playing golf with friends, playing cards with family and friends, competing in golf tournaments, and he loved his Ford F150 and Harley Davidson. His favorite holiday was Christmas – no matter how many gifts he received, he would always ask, “Are there any more gifts for me to open???!!” He enjoyed family get-togethers where he would eat crabs and play cards (Hand & Foot) and corn hole. He also enjoyed bird watching under the gazebo in his back yard and watching Hallmark movies. He was a model train enthusiast, a hobby that he passionately shared with his father and brother. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Raymond Funeral Service in La Plata, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to UT Hospice Foundation, 4435 Valley View Drive, Knoxville, TN 37917. The family is overwhelmed by their continuing support, care, and compassion. “We will always be a part of the Hospice family.”
